Intentions
The main intention of this sequence is to challenge the player's mastery of the exotic feature that he learned earlier in the level and that is added on top of all the already existing features. To conclude all this challenging of player's skills, the sequence ends with a boss fight. Since the game taken as a basis for this Custom DLC is a realistic one, the fail conditions of the platform sequences are fall damage or death. The player can also miss collectibles by wanting to go too fast. There will also be a work on Level Architecture to make the level look even more like it takes place in a cave and it will need a huge work on volumes, colors and shapes.
During the production phase of this level, I did two main versions. The main points that were underlined when going through a QA Test phase for the first version was that the location the player needed to reach to finish the sequence wasn't visible from the start. The platforming sequences were also easily skippable due to tech constraints. Another feedback was that the player didn't have much impact on what the plants do. Testers thought that would be great to have more influence on them. It led to us making a type of plants that the player can control the growth of. The next step of this work was to make the objective of the player even more visible
